Q&A: 100% Deduction for Long-Term Care Insurance with 105-HRA


Question

 

I purchased your tax course and forwarded the information on the Section 105 medical reimbursement plan to my accountant. She had not heard of it. My questions for you, please:

My CPA’s reading has led her to believe that if you have insurance through an employer, or former employer, or your spouse has the option for family medical coverage through her employment, there are limits to what can be deducted. Is that correct, or does the Section 105 plan trump all of that?

If I hire my spouse under a 105 plan, we would want to claim the large long-term care insurance premiums we both pay. Can both premiums be deducted, or are we limited to just hers? ... Log in to view full article.
