Education Deduction for CFP


 

 

I am studying for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ comprehensive exam. My CPA tells me that the classes and expenses to improve my professional status are not deductible. Is this your understanding? I would think these would be business expenses since I am studying to enhance my professional status. Other CFP® practitioners I have talked to have said that the expenses toward CFP® certification are deductible. (K.A.H., Bloomington, Ill.)
