Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez, D-N.Y., introduced H.R. 6601, the Small Business Tax Modernization Act of 2008, to:

simplify the home office deduction,

remove cell phones from the onerous listed property rules, and

increase the deductions for business meals and entertainment.

Ms. Velázquez is chairwoman of the House Committee on Small Business and appears to pay attention, as the proposals in this bill make sense for small businesses.
