No Extension for Extenders


On September 10, 2008, the Bureau of National Affairs, in its Daily Tax Report Highlights, reported that Senate Finance Committee Chairman Baucus said he believes it’s possible that Congress will enact a one-year patch for the alternative minimum tax (AMT) but adjourn for the year without extending the other 46 extenders, which include, among others, extensions for sales tax deductions and research and development credits.1

 

Bad Law

 

Extenders produce bad tax law. They certainly disadvantage small business.
