GAO Tells Senate: “Fiscal Outlook Is Bleak and Action Is Needed to Avoid Serious Economic Disruption”


In testimony before the Senate on January 29, 2008, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) said: “Under any plausible scenario, the federal budget is on an imprudent and unsustainable path.”1
